We are currently recruiting a PhD student (generous domestic scholarship) to join our DIABETES ACROSS the LIFECOURSE: Northern Australia Partnership at Menzies School of Health Research, Charles Darwin University, to undertake a research program that focuses on improving cardiovascular disease risk screening and prevention in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The PhD research program will be undertaken as part of the Australian Stroke and Heart Research Accelerator (ASHRA) Centre for which Menzies is a core academic partner. ASHRA will transform the field of cardiovascular research in Australia by bringing a new sector-wide focus on clinical impact and entrepreneurship. The PhD candidate will be supported by a range of experienced clinicians, researchers and policy specialists, and further information is outlined in the attachment.
The PhD candidate will have strong epidemiology skills, preferably having completed a Master in Public Health or Master in Clinical Epidemiology, and currently work or research within public health and/or primary health care clinical networks focussed on prevention of heart disease, stroke, diabetes or chronic conditions across Northern Australia. We encourage applications from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander individuals. The position can be based in Alice Springs, Darwin, Cairns or Broome.
