The Australasian Epidemiological Association (AEA) invites applications for the 2017 AEA Early Career Researcher Travel Award and the AEA Mid-Career Researcher Travel Award.

AEA Early Career International Travel Award

This is a $2500 award to support a postgraduate student member of the Association, or a member of AEA who has recently completed postgraduate studies, to undertake travel for professional purposes. There is 1 award on offer this year.

Eligibility:

  1. The applicants must be financial members of AEA at the time of application.
  2. Be currently enrolled in a postgraduate degree in epidemiology, biostatistics or a related discipline, or have completed a postgraduate degree in epidemiology, biostatistics or a related discipline within 2 years of the closing date of this application.
  3. Previous award recipients may apply but preference will be given to candidates who have not previously received the award.
  4. The proposed travel must occur after the closing date but within one year of receiving the award.
  5. Voting members of the AEA Council are not eligible to apply.

AEA Mid-Career International Travel Award

This is a $3500 award to support a mid-career member of the Association to undertake international travel for professional development purposes. The travel may include attendance at conferences, training courses, and collaborative study visits. There is 1 award on offer this year.

Eligibility:

  1. The applicants must be financial members of AEA at the time of application.
  2. The applicants must have completed a PhD more than 2 years and less than 12 years before the closing date of this application. Where the PhD was awarded more than 12 years ago, applications must provide specific and concise justification for career interruptions.
  3. Previous award recipients may apply but preference will be given to candidates who have not previously received the award.
  4. Any proposed travel must occur after the closing date, but within one year of receiving the award. The award will not be conferred retrospectively.
  5. Voting members of the AEA Council are not eligible to apply.

Requirements of Award Recipients:

  1. Award recipients are requested to write a brief report of one to two paragraphs, following the travel for inclusion in the Australasian Epidemiologist, summarising the outcomes from the award.
  2. Any publications or presentations supported by the Award should acknowledge the financial contribution of the AEA.
